Extremely heavy steering at speed

Hi there, the motor is a 25hp Mariner two stroke and the boat is a FunYak450 (not mine, sailing club's). The steering is cable, not hydraulic. It steers fine at non planing speeds, absolutely normal, but as soon as it starts getting up the steering becomes ridiculous - it takes two hands just to move the wheel and is just as difficult to turn in both directions.

I've seen several posts where people complain about their 25's pulling or steering hard. Fortunately, my '88 doesn't have that problem, though it has a few others. See the post on page 3 ("25XD pulls to one side"). There's several suggestions on how to remedy your problem.
