OMG! That's aweful. How dare a company make money. My gawd it's almost...Capitalist.

On the same page more bad news...
• Google’s quarterly profit nearly triples
• Boeing earnings more than double
• Time Warner’s profits rise 34%
• Starbucks earnings rise 18 percent
• Procter & Gamble’s profit up 12 percent

Alright RF, I'll tell you like I've told everybody else on this topic, Exxon doesn't set the price of oil, just like Chevron or Texaco or no other oil company has the ability to do that. It's set on the world market. Those companies just enjoy the benefits of a high world market price. If the price drops real low those same companies get hit.

I envy them. They rode out the oil crash of the 80's to post record profits. Go Exxon!

Any chance those profits are being taxed? Lets get those state run oil companies, state run communication companies, state run health care, state run auto manufacturers, state run power companies going. Hey maybe Chavez can stop on by and give us some pointers.

I think everyone missed the whole point of the post. I wasn't trying to say "profit is bad." I was trying to say "big profit without being responsible is bad."

I think what JB is saying is being responsible is good if it is not bad for your profit line. And, that it is irresponsibe to try to make responsible someone who refuses to be responsible.
