Those that are smart enough to pour pizz out of their boot are right wing Democrats, those that complain and slosh around blaming everyone else are main stream.

I've found that Western society has a thing called a "toilet". Guess I don't fit their mold. :p

If you are referring to the Valdez spill, leaving 26,600 gallons (less than 3 truckloads) of oil, from an 11,000,000 gallon spill, hardly seems like "blowing it off". ...

It does, however, help make them look evil, which seems to be important when a company makes a lot of money.
I doubt that all has been done that could be done. I do believe that Exxon has a choice to spend money to improve it or just blow it off.
Whether it is the valdez thing or a new incident remedies should still be implemented. Soap box mode off. Snide rejoinder mode on.

I guess we could call on Exxon to "cull, and remediate" that coastline forever and a day.... it will never be the same? Will Southern California.?.... which has the higher impact on the "natural world"?

(Please go back to off mode) :p

Checked, rechecked and double checked. Over and out.

I know it is unexpected, but would you join me in a really good bash on this system?... like with sledge hammers? :p

Yes frogger, they should completely clean up their mess as long as that definition of "completely" is reasonable. I guess what I mean is some will say that ecosystem has been damaged for a million years (literally and may have been). How do you calculate that? Also, my long winded point was, that once our legal system is involved (civil not criminal) all bets are off. What a company must do to protect itself is not necessarily indicative of their goodness . . .

Re: Exxon posts record profits- again

Hey Rubber, and the rest o' you folks: I come at this from two perspectives. #1 As a capitalist pig, (I was an investment broker [registered rep] for many years). #2 From a personal stand point, (my brother has fished out of Cordova, AK for many years). I had my brother's investment account in 1989, (shocking; [I know] that someone who knows me real good: would trust me with his finances). My brother's formerly very valuable "kelp pounding" fishery was one mile from the site the rock the Valdez hit was located, and he has not fished that fishery since that time: a total loss. I told him then, (and he now reluctantly agrees with me), that the community up there was actually lucky it was XON, (ticker for ExxonMobil known by the 'old timers' as: "ZON", jus' like the old AT&T was known as "Telephone": [T]), that had the bad luck with their Captain as apposed to many lesser companies it could have happened to. XON spent buckets of money, (my brother helped in the cleanup as many fishermen did, and they were very well compensated for their work). He got mad at me when I recomended he back up his truck and pick up the cheap XON shares of stock in his investment account. Hind sight, (20-20) most of my clients that did what I told them smiled all the way to the bank on that particular pick back in 1989. Did XON clean up Prince William Sound? YES! Did they return it to the pristene state it was prior to the spill? Heck NO! Rubber, my gas spewing friend: that just can't be done, that is why they lost the huge judgement that my brother is still waiting for his portion of the $. Have they streched it out farther then anyone in history? YES! Is it natural to be envious of sucess? YES. Especially when we all pay to work or play. That all said: if Hill, Pelosi, or the gutless Republicans find ways to tax, regulate and further discourage a truly great American enterprize like XON: the net effect is to make it easier for our enemies to make the money without restraint. Argentina, Iran come to mind. XON is the world's largest and most profitable Western enterprize: as measured by net profits. Yet they are tiny compared to the Oil companies controled by our enimies and part time allies. If we punnish them for their success, we will just take America out of the oil business and get our fuel exclusively from our enemies. Let's all put that li'l gem in our pipes and fire 'em up! My $.02 Respectfully JR

Oh investment broker (registered rep), XOM is the ticker for Exxon Mobile, not XON.

How about we just take away their tax breaks....
You know the ones that were supposed to fund improvements in infrastructure & refining capacity.....
With those kinds of profits XOM is no longer a corporation- It is a trust.......
& should go the way of Ma Bell.......;)

Yah Bro Haut, We could do lots of things to punnish their success. Why do you want to just buy petroleum based energy only from our ememies? No drillin' in ANWAR, break up Exxon and tax 'em to death, in fact: let's just make sure "Big Oil" is Dutch, British, or Saudi, Iranian or Venezuela, that is some great Liberal logic. Now you know why Cornservatives question the aparent wishes of Libs to set us up to fail. JR

Taking away their tax breaks does not sound like a death blow to me......
They would only make $3.5 M an hour.....
Oh! The horror! :%
Why do all conservatives see ANWAR as a magical solution to America's energy needs?
It's not....
It's a temporary fix at best.....
We will have all the oil we need when Iraq is back online.....
I wish them pesky natives would kill each other off all ready......

No Magic Bro Haut: Jus' plain old Econ 101. Let's go over it a li'l for those who don't know the concept 'cause it's real simple, (that's why it's 101 Bro). More supply Bro equals lower price. Second concept: the new supply belongs to US that is USA Bro Haut. Clear on this li'l concept Bro? JR

A short term fix, McFly!
If you think you will see a significant reduction in oil prices from drilling there, you are dreamin comrade :)
Leave the oil right where it is for future use when we really need it.....
That's common sense 101......
