Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have never seen one that was even close. Let me do some detailed staring at it and I will get back to you. WOW

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

Well I checked out the boat. There is one small difference (where the windshield meets the hull). They have also covered over all the hatches in the floor. I think it was because it was missing the hatch covers. You could get away without them but the front hatch cover bumps up so you have a place to put your feet so you don't slide under the deck when you hit a wave. Then they added a 100 gal gas tank. A little big for a 19 foot boat . Mine has a 60 gal that I have only filled up one time. Who needs the extra weight. I am glad I got mine before the past owner changed it over to a outboard. He wanted to but never got around to it thank god. These boats are balanced perfectly. I have never used my trim tabs (outdrive only has tilt no trim) to get up on a plain. Just when I go out with my 280lb friend (I weigh 155lb) to keep it from leaning to his side at slow speeds. Having a large outboard hanging a foot off the transom (instead of a I/O) must have changed the balance in some way. It also took years and lots of money find all the parts to get mine together and it came with a lot more. With all the knowledge I have on these boats it would still take a big bank account and a labor of love to restore it but it would sure be nice to have two. If I did buy it I am sure I would have to find a new wife and I wouldn't have time to look with all the work that needs to be done. I hope it finds a good home. I wrote the seller and told him that he can pass on my e mail address to the new owner and I will help them where I can.

Thats a nice thing to do. I can never understand why people convert these neat older boats to outboards. IMO it takes a way all the character.

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

I don't know the owner or would I recommend someone to buy this boat unless they know what they are getting into. Remember it was a I/O. Adding a outboard that far off the transom had to have changed the attitude of the boat. Maybe for the good. Who knows?
As for restoring the boat (with the outboard)that would not be to hard. I know how (I have already done all the trial and error)and the offer to help the new owner to do it still stands. The real money will be finding the chrome and building the windshield (something that has to be put back to make it look right). http://photos.yahoo.com/f_inscreenname Check mine out and you will see why. As for the outboard. I don't know much about them and will not pretend I do. So if you say its wrong I believe you but the last timed I checked It was still only a $100.00 You really cant go wrong for that kind of money.

I'd rip all that crap off the back and find a used Volvo Penta package to put in.

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

I wanted to use a Mercruiser 888 / 351 Windsor out of my last boat (severely damaged by a underwater log) but found the hole cut into the transom for the Volvo drive was to big to use the mercruiser without installing a new transom (get rid of the outboard and the transom is done). It was solid and had no rot so there was no reason to change it. I stayed with the Volvo. I still wish I had trim but the boat seems fine without it.

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

Thanks! It is a 1972 19’ (8 foot beam at the transom, fat a**) John Allmand / Super Nova with a 360 Mopar small block with about 330hp. Four years and so much money. I even worked on it today (the first day with no rain in two weeks) for about 8 hours trying to get ready to go out for the first time this year. Over the last month I did a total motor rebuild with some upgrades (double roller timing chain, roller rockers etc) installed new seats that match rest of the interior, a cool speedo housing for the dash, a tilt motor and a air intake system. I am done for a little while. I have to work all the bugs that will pop the first time I go out. There is always something. When you get the bug to redo a old boat you get it to a point and say “this is cool” and a month later you already have a to do list (I have to have a flip up navigation light and my seats don't match and I need a speedo that works at 60mph and and and..............) I don't think you ever finish.

um...and i
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last year they used screw in power packs was 1978
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my 1980 evinrude 50hp has one! hmmmph
Sorry dude, 1980 50 hp had plug in packs, not screw in packs!

The point being that if the seller lied that much about the motor -- which can be visually verified -- what has he lied about that you cant verify by pictures?

Think about it!!

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

He's trying to pass off a 1978 or 1979 235 as a 1991 235, which doesnt exist.

Would you trust him?

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

I dont trust anyone on ebay. That doesnt mean I wont buy though. I just want to visually inspect what I'm buying first. It seems to me that this guy just doesnt know what he's talking about. Just compare his boat with Effin's.

Re: f--inscreenname, check it out

I guess I will add to the confusion. You all keep saying a 235 outboard but the O/B’s cowl in the pictures says a 175 VRO. I don't know anything about O/B’s but the #’s don't match. Maybe I am missing something.
P.S. I bought my boat off of e-bay (my first buy) from a guy in N.Y. Never saw it except for the pictures posted on e-bay and I knew I had to have it. Sometimes I think it was the best $802.00 I ever spent. Sometimes I think I would have been better off burning the money in my BBQ grill.
