How common is it for an injector on a 2006 F150 to stick open? Noticed my pressure was down on my starboard engine and checked the injectors and found one stuck open.

Not common but not unheard of either.

There are a number of ways that injectors can fail. Failing in an open state is just one of the failure modes.

Happens to all injectors of all models and brands.

And by the way, a wiring fault can cause an injector to remain open. Injector may be perfectly fine.

I actually removed the injector and pushed fuel through it with it energized and not energized both. Pretty sure it's not the wiring this time. Saying this, i'm not a yamaha tech either. so if i'm missing something and you know more than i do please fill me in.

Nothing more to add. Just a failed injector. It happens.

19 years old. God only knows how many times it has opened and closed.

Some folks wonder why stuff fails. I sometimes wonder how some stuff lasts as long as it does.

Absolutely, I'm an electronics tech and been doing it for over 38 years, Anything can an will break. Got a new injector in this afternoon and put it in. Went to lake and pressures are more even and power is back and runs good at low speed again.

If an injector has been stuck open fuel may have got into the engine oil, in which case it would obviously be a good idea to change the oil.

I too find it surprising some mechanical and electrical things last as long as they do. Injectors usually last around a billion cycles on a vehicle, but then again so do the pistons, bores and bearings.

An easy way to break an injector is feed it with dirty fuel. I once replaced a fuel line on an expensive AMG Mercedes (as part of a bigger job I was doing on it) but forgot to clean out the replacement fuel line before fitting it, there must have been some dirt in it because almost immediately after starting the engine 2 of the injectors stuck open. The oil soon started to smell of fuel before I realised why it was misfiring. Removed injectors and fuel lines and cleaned them all but couldn't fix the broken 2 injectors, replaced all 8 injectors and changed the oil.

That cylinder has run with raw gas diluting the lubrication on the sliding parts. Do a compressio9n check of that cylinder compared to others. Post the different readings. Racerone might advise you if damage is done. Good luck
