Re: F350TUR Oil change

actually, either FM rated 10w-30 or 20-40 and it holds about 8QTs.
what your shooting for is a level about half way up the hash marks on the dipstick.
careful doing the filter. it can make a mess.

Re: F350TUR Oil change

the only gearcase oil that will currently not void a warrenty is the yamaha HD gearlube. dont know of a substitute.
holds about 45 OZ.
you must tilt the engine almost full up or it wont properly drain.
once refilled let it sit 5 minutes and recheck the level.
the internal design is very different than most other outboards.
the oil filter is similar to the F250 only buried deeper.
requires removing he fuel filter bracket assy.
use the cup wrench, tilt the motor up and use a catch tray.
clea up the mess later :).
actually one of the other techs has figgured out the mess free way.
and yamaha does make a tool for catching the oil.
he made a catch tray from a qt oil bottle, loosens the filter to about hand tight, installs the catch tray and spins the filter off with a screwdriver from the port side.
works very well.
biggest thing is carefully inspect the flywheel assy for signs of failure.
failed rotors are nasty as it snaps the crank just below #1 rod journal.
so far I have had one of the updated rotors fail.
there is a tech bulliten out for rotor and water pressure/speed sensor updates.
