I have attached some pics for those interested in seeing how a tower is mounted from the factory. Maybe this helps in the decision on an aftermarket tower install and if you do it yourself.

The front mount did not appear to have any reinforcement but it was covered by carpet so i could not tell for sure. The ring was about 8 inches in diameter. The rear bracket clearly has a reinforced attachment point

There appears to be a fiberglass frame which distributes the stress downward into the hull just aft of the rear mounting point. The support bar appears to provide lateral support to the frame and distribute stress further back towards the transom and into the lower hull. (any engineers out there?)

The electical goes to the anchor light which is above the tow rope attach point. The anchor light (white light) must be higher than any obstructions for 360degree visability (or something like that) on the boat when lights are in use. I guess thats another factor if you buy an aftermarke tower. So don't forget planning for possibility of electrical and maybe even speaker wires and how collapsing the tower may impact those wires.

I hope this helps anyone interested in a retrofit.
