I recently bought a 89 bayliner capri that has a 2.3l ford engine and a omc cobra outdrive. The boat has been sitting for over 3 years so I drained all the old fuel out changed the plugs and wires and after some more work finally got the thing running but know it acts like its getting way to much fuel and its loading up, I think the previous owners messed with the needles on the carb trying to get it to crank does anyone know where I could find the factory setting on this thing?

Welcome to iboats.....:)
Your answer will depend on the make & model # of the carb.....;)

Re: factory setting

The "Factory Setting" is only a starting point for adjusting the mixture on your carb. It is NOT the final setting. That has to be done on each individual engine and depends on many things.
This factory setting is basically a "It will run here till you get it warmed up for adjustment" setting and is usually in the range of 1-1/2 to 2 turns out from lightly seated (On the mixture screws)

Re: factory setting

I just rebuilt mine this spring and it seems to me it was 1 1/4 -1 1/2. Not 4.

Last spring I had a white piece of plastic that wedged itself in the floats needle valve. To this day I have no idea how something that big got to where it was.
