Failed pressure test

I've replaced the drive shaft seal, the shift seal and then performed a pressure test last night. There is a leak right above the shift housing. Must be the gasket under the bearing cover. Is this as simple as it seems to replace? In this section of the manual there is a lot of discussion on shimming gears and what not. I just want to make sure that if I open the top cover I'm not getting into anything too complicated.
I plan to buy part 20 shown in the attached pic.

I`ve never taken my top cap off, but I would think that as long as you were only replacing the seal that you should be ok. I would replace the seal and re assemble in reverse of disassembly.

I had to replace my top cap when the threads got all galled for the dipstick. I did the re-shim when I did that. It was pretty easy, I bought a bunch of different shim sizes and used a feeler gauge. Just replacing that seal shouldnt require changing out the shims but I would stick a feeler gauge under it just to make sure it's all in spec.

Had to replace mine for the same reason. I got lucky and didn't need to re-shim anything, but I bought a feeler gauge and checked to make sure. Other than that, it's a simple fix.

Take the bolts out and replace the rubber seal. Nothing to remove or needed to be checked. Had to remove my cover also because the dip stick removed the threads. Put in a helicoil. When you take the cover off all your going to see is a big bearing

Thans for the input everyone. My local shop has the gasket in stock so I am picking it up today. Fingers crossed I will finally pass the pressure test and get the drive back on.

Speaking of Helicoil's, I just had to put three of those in on the shift housing. I was surprised at how smoothly it went. They seem really secure.
