I have been bidding on Ebay for an engine alignment tool for my cobra drive.
Is 50 to 60 bucks a deal or should i just buy one locally?

I was able to get mine on e-bay for $30.00 but I had to lose alot of auctions first. It took me about a month of bidding on many of them till I finally won one.

Be sure you are getting a "Link Belt" bearing. Some of those aftermarket bearing are carp.

Re: Fair price for alignment tool

My Sealoc manual says an engine alignment should be performed every year "by an authorized mercruiser dealer". How many of you guys actually do this every year? I've had my 1985 SeaRay for a couple of seasons now and haven't done it. Am I due? I plan to pull the drive this month to replace the impeller (never done that either).

Re: Fair price for alignment tool

it is a good idea to pull the drive every year to inspect ujoints, gimble ect..then stick the alignment tool in to check it. I'm pulling my drive for the first time and i'm just going to replace everything to be sure..

ReelPoor,I guess it will be a Sierra bearing..are they ok??

I believe there are only two different manufacturers. I feel Sierra sells pretty decent products, sooooo I would assume they are selling the Link Belt bearing. I buy mine elsewhere so I really don't know.

Does that include both bellows, gimbal bearing and the gasket?

If so...good price!

Re: Fair price for alignment tool

I never Looked on the Bearing to see if it's an Offshore bearing or Not,......

But,...
I've used several of the Kit's from NAPA,...... Without Issues......
