where are you looking? I've been browsing Iboats and Boat trader. I wish I could plop down 30K but I'm really looking to be in the 10-15K range. I really want to have something by the end of April, and be in the water for may long weekend up here.

I'd agree with the above that the full asking price is very high. Even considering the current economic downturn, I believe NADA seems low more times than not. I understand the genesis of the numbers in NADA but they just seem unrealistic regardless of they they are generated. The thing I would mention is that at least here in MN the window of nice boats hitting the market lasts only a short time. The ones that remain seemed overpriced, have issues and just sit. My point is if you wait too long for that perfect boat, all the good ones just may be gone. At least that has been my observation a couple states away in MN.

I've been checking the entire great lakes area, I think parts of MN are included in that. It doesn't need to be perfect, just want something that's been taken care of. It seems what's listed is all up there in the 15K asking range. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

I am always amused when reading these post on how bad the used boat market is and you can offer dealers really low prices. As a boat dealer, I have sold my resent trades above NADA within days of listing the boats on the internet and have only two used boats in stock.

I also see some of the junk that people drive 500 miles for that really "good deal" when it comes in here for repairs. The quality used boat market in the midwest is tight.

Yes, you can still buy some repo's cheap, but most of those need some work even to start boating.

It truly is a buyer's market. Some people will try to get as much as possible because they are upside down big. With unemployment at 9.7% and a recession, there are tons of deals to be had. Craigslist is my friend. See crazedlist.org, to search multiple cities. Don't be afraid to buy across country and use uship to ship the boats. You will come out way ahead. I frequent other sites where folks buy boats from east coast and have them delivered to the west coast. Why would they do that if there are not tons of deals to be had? Just sayin.

I agree, and thanks for that craigs list site. That really irks me that you can't search multiple cities on craigs. Oddly enough I was just getting a quote on uship. however i dont think i feel comfortable buying off someone from craigslist without using a service to take care of the transaction.

Keep lookin every day. I've found tons of stuff on CL but it doesn't always turn up quickly. Like the saying says: good fast and cheap. Choose any two.

Found 2 more boats. One is a h190 powered by Volvo 5.0l with swim platform other is h200 same power plant no swim platform. Same year same color same seating arrangements

It's all inland lake use. Most commonly on a 287 sq mile lake. Does anyone think there's an advantage to either size? I'm guessing the longer will be better in any chop, but less good for watersports. I'm single so no wife or kids just lady friends and buddies will be on it. I'll also be trailering it. Any advice? I think I'm just splitting heirs now, but I'm a very detail driven anal type person.

You know, I keep hearing that it is a buyer's market but that doesn't seem to be the case for the low-end boats. I'm not a boat dealer, but I've been looking for a while and just purchased a 2000 23' deck boat. I was looking in the $10k to $15k range, and there weren't many good deals in that range. Of course, there were plenty of 5 year old 18' boats for $10k.

In my range, it was very rare to see a boat advertised even close to NADA average retail price. Those that were advertised close to the NADA average retail price sold very quickly. I searched craigslist (multiple states) and boattrader.

I do hear that the market is quite different for more expensive boats ($30k+), but that was more than I wanted to spend.

I'm gonna try my luck on another one today if I get the requested info from the broker at some point before the day is out. I'm starting to get a little annoyed checking what's new for sale online everday, but the good news for me is that I'm seeing a lot of the same not moving.

I'm still shopping, I've put offers on a few boats but they have been sold out from under me. The search continues. If anyone see's anything please let me know.

Yeah, on the bigger boats, I am suprised how cheap you can get a four or five year old 30 foot, premium brand cruiser for these days. I used to see them on the one lake that can accept a larger boat and think wow but now I realize they depreciate faster than fast. They seem to depreciate much more than the 19 footers that have a bigger pool of buyers. The frustrating part of seeing all these links is realizing I paid more for my boat a few years ago and it is getting old. I have said it before but I would love to be in the market for a boat just like you are searching for.
