I have a 1994 115 Hp. Mecury...I keep getting a flase alarm...low oil or high temp. (one light and buzzer for both faults).... I would like a wiring diagram of the alarm system...have not been able to determind which sensor is the problem. how should I go about doing this? this is on a Pro Craft 180. oil tank is contained in the engine. it is not an external tank.

Re: false alarms

Try here

http://www.biggerhammer.net/mercury/factory_manuals/

Low oil will be a beep....beep...beep. An overheat problem will be a continuous beep. There are two wires comming out of the bottom of the oil tank. Disconnect either one of them and see if the beeping stops. If so, the sensor or the float inside tank is bad. If you have a continuous beep it indicates overheating. Place your hand on the powerhead. You should be able to hold it there for awhile. If hotter than that you have something blocking water flow. If all checks good, you most likely have a bad temp sending unit or alarm module.

Re: false alarms

2nd north40 opinion, I pulled my hair out (whats left of it), 91 115 merc, it was float in oil tank, it gets soggy and sinks causing continuous beep. Take tank off turn upside down, if it stops it is float. It can't be fixed, must get new tank approx $50.00 or $60.00. My 2 cents I'm just a lowly cadet. By the way I have 91 procraft 170.
