Fast idle adjustment ? inline6 1975 150H.P. Merc Control

Is there a way to adjust the cold start fast idle on this thing? It worked well before we put in a new trigger. It did rev up to 3000rpm. Now all the way up with handle it won't hit 800 rpm. It is hard to warm up like this. How and Where do you adjust it. Thanks, Tim<br />1975 1500 150 H.P. Mercury with MercControl.

Tim, I do not think there is an adjustment on the cold start lever itself. Make sure the throttle cable and idle stop screw are adjusted properly, that it has a bit of preload (not too much) when you put it onto neutral.<br /><br />Q: if the cold start lever revs the motor up to 800 RPM, what does it idle at when it's warm? I would set the Idle stop to ~1000 RPM.

Tim, Follow up concern: It sounds like you need to check the timing, and do the link and synch for that motor.

950-1000 When warm. A little to high. It hits the lower unit to hard when warm. My problen is when it is cold. It dont want stay runing when cold. We just done linc & sync. The cold leaver only punps it up 25 or 30 rpm? It used to go up 1000 or more before installing the new trigger???

Just because I am new here. What goes into a linc & sync. Is it a hard task? When is it generally needed or how often?

tim-<br />Thanks for the link, what a great discussion on a linc & sync. However, my engine is a V6. Will that procedure described by CC still work or is it completely different. My engine right now gets bogged down when I attempt to go to WOT. Right now I am cleaning the carbs to see if it helps. But will probably need to do a linc & sync if that fails.
