Anyone ever seen this? I got one this morning on my Acer laptop. It restarted without incident. I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 about 2 months ago. No other software or hardware added in that time. Google search found some possible causes, none of which seem to apply to me.

Yes I have.I bought a refurbed dell and I had the same message. IN my case when I loaded win 7 pro my laptop would not load or function properly.Ijust received the lt that same day and lucky for me I bought from a company that had a full 1 year warranty on its refurbs. They sent me a new preloaded harddrive no questions asked other than to send the bad drive back to them with a prepaid shipping label.

Often times is is an out of date video driver, Acer is famous for them, I have had two of them in the past that would not run certain versions of windows, did it give you a failure code to go along with the faulty HW error?

No, no code that I saw but I should mention that my LT is about 8 years old which might mean something. I guess I'll just wait and see if it keeps happening. I pulled the battery about 4 months ago because the life had dropped ot about 30 minutes and I kept getting messages recommending replacement. I only ever use it when sitting in my recliner so I just use the plug.

You should not use a laptop with out the battery unless you are just troubleshooting. The battery, even if old, is kind of a buffer for power. They are not meant to run on AC only.

I thought I'd toss in a follow up.

I put the old battery back in and it had a life of about 15-18 minutes when "fully" charged. I found one online for 12 bucks + 6 bucks shipping so what the heck.

Anyway, here's the interesting part with a huge shout out to USPS. I ordered this on Amazon about 2 or 3 pm CDT on Friday 6/10. It arrived from Seattle in my mail around 1:00 pm today.

Good luck with the battery.Ive read where a lot of those cheap batteries last a very very short time.I just bought mine at dr.battery and it came with a 2 year warranty.Ive gone from 1 1/2 hour to 6 hrs for approx. 70 cnd vs dell price of 189.The maker of the batt is Samsung so hopefully its good vs obscure Chinese mfg .
