Re: Favorite Firearm?

I have a pump Winchester .22 that my Great uncle gave me. The gun has been used by my great uncle, grandfather, father, and uncle. I had it reblued several years ago and don't shoot it anymore.

Favorite shooting guns are the Colt King Cobra .357 and the Colt Target .22 with Rot dot scope.

Favorite guns just to have are the AR-15 kit my father in law and I built and the Springfield Armory M14

Favorite gun I wish I didn't sell was a Smith and Wesson 1100 ? 12 ga Semi-Auto short barrel skeet gun.

My favorite would be the Model 1897 Winchester 12 ga. hammer-pump that my Grandfather bought new as a young man and gave to me when he got long in the tooth. Though he had 4 sons and several grandsons, I was the honored one to get it. And yes it's sentimental, and no it's not a tool. I rarely shoot it. Nothing like the sound of the action of a '97 - kinda akin to Harley.

I hear ya on that BB. Nothing like the ring of cold steel that the '97 gives off when you rack it. I have a genuine '97 trench gun that is about 99%. What a piece.

Best shot; 1109 yards with a 170 Grain boat-tail FMJ in1963.

Wow! You and Quigley Downunder, huh? That is certainly a long reach.

1109 yards is not really all that good.
There were a few others reaching out to over 1400 yards with the same type of piece and a Spotter.

They now have the Barret .50 firing "Exploders" (inverted "soft" primer in the nose of the projectile) now (the 7 mag's projectile diameter was not large enough to house the inverted primer).

That thing will really reach out and touch someone.

The AK-47. Without a doubt the toughest firearm ever made. Cheap to produce, reliable as all hell, and can lay down some pretty accurate fire in the hands of trained militiamen.

I used to own one. That was the most amazing weapon I ever owned.

Re: Favorite Firearm?

Since you guys listed so many I've give my faves...

There's nothing especially spectacular about these. I've used them and liked them.

Remington 1100 Semi-automatic 12ga (love that sound of chambering the first shell)
Mossberg 500 Pump 12ga
Remington 700 .243
Remington 700 30-06
Marlin 30-30 (cheap and reliable)

** I had a Sears 30-30 that ejected out the top like a Winchester but it was stolen about 15 years ago.

I've been told I can shoot a gnats eye out with a rifle, but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol so I don't own any.

Re: Favorite Firearm?

Depends on what I am shooting at.
Large Animal - Savage .270 left handed bolt action- Fastest firing bullet I have ever seen. over 3,000fps at muzzle.

Bird- Remington Model 31A with poly-choke. Its only 70 years old, and works like new.
Squirrel- Marlin .22, or if having a bad day deer hunting. S&W .22, or Beretta Bobcat .22.

Re: Favorite Firearm?

My favorite would have to be the one that is in my hand at that time. I'm the type that will unload the safe no maqtter where i'm going. I say you can never have too many guns.

All the same though my 10\22 is always right next to me in the feild. could be my favorite but I'd hate to make my other guns jelous!!!!! LOL d:)
