My 150 Rude Ocean Pro bogged and cut out yesterday.I emptied the fuel water seperator and was able to bring it back in and change it so the day was not lost. The only water absorber product on the shelf of the marine store was Starbrite water absorber.I have never known Starbrite to be of top quality so I want to get something else for the tank.Suggestions please......Charlie

Just because you changed out the filter/separator and brought it back to life, doesn't immediately mean it was that. Unless you took the time to turn the filter over and look for, and see lots of water.

There has been stuff on the shelf at the auto parts place called gas dry or something like that for years. I think it's mostly alcohol.

So unless you are sure there's another pint of water in the tank you might want to move on to the next step(s) at diagnosing.

If it was indeed water that bogged it out, it meant there was enough to overfill the capacity of the filter/separator, and made it's way into the fuel system of the motor.

That would mean that fuel system service would be next.

But even with that said there are other items that could "bog out" a motor. A service manual might help.

Folks I know who use water absorber use the HEET that comes in red bottles. Myself, I would recommend that if you have a water separating filter, just change it on a routine basis to avoid problems and forget about the water absorber. Or, get the bowl type of water separating filter and just empty the bowl regularly as a routine thing.
