My Daughter's used 14 boat has a 2 year old bow mounted Minn Kota (I think) on it. Don't know the model yet.

Trailerable cover won't fit without modifing the cover. I was thinking of getting her a quick release bracket that would solve the issue.

She's worried that it's going to be a pain to take it off and carry it to her trunk. I said since you trailer a lot you won't have to worry about carrying it because it will probly get stolen anyway.

Who uses a quick realease mount I'd like to get some feedback before I spend $70-100.

I found this stlye:

And here is another style although one review says removal is easier with two people:

Another vote for the MinnKota unit.

Can that unit be locked with a small pad lock like the other two examples I listed.

A quick release would make it even easier to steal off the boat if it's not locked on?

Absolutely -- it is locable and it's not plastic that can be ripped from the boat with one hand.

Re: Feedback for using a quick release bracket . . .

There's my order for the Quick release from iboats below and a few other items.

Iboats had a good price on the Seasense Big wheel jack too. I have one on my boat. Has a 4 inch wide wheel that does not dig up the driveway or grass like the cheapo's with the tiny wheel.

Picked up a service manual on the 99 25 Merc HP 2 stoke that came on her boat. Going to do the maintenance and also change the impeller.

Drove by the boat and it's a Minn Kota Power Drive V2 bow mount, so that plate is the exact match for a Powerdrive unit.

Pending approval UPS Ground
1 Mercury/Mariner, 1990-2000, 2-250hp, 2 stroke
1 Jack, 1000lb, Big Wheel, Seacoat Finish 3674491
1 PowerDrive Quick-Release Trolling Motor Mount, Aluminum 2252018

Almost spent $70 plus for that other plate.
Thx for everyone's input!

Re:One more question regarding the foot pedal . . .

She has this model:

Once I install the quick release I also want the wires to be quick release. I know for the power wires to the battery I can use a Marinco plug.

But is there a quick release plug that I can splice in to be able to separate the foot pedal with it's long wire from the motor. I don't want to drag the foot pedal and wire around when I remove the unit. I'd like to be able to toss the pedal and wire into a locker and put the Minn Kota in the trunk.
