Female fuel fitting not working, need help.

Bought a 1990 (i think) 8hp. Serial Number 0c262593, maybe someone can tell me the year

Anyways I went to wally world and bought the "Mercury" female fuel fitting only to find out the fitting doesnt hook up. It fits, but the fitting clamp thingy that hooks the post (on the male end) is too long and wont engage so the fitting just falls off....wtf not even a close fit...about a 1/4 inch to long

Are there different sizes? And how do I know what I am buying, because the packages are not very specific...

If you have a Merc dealer handy, copy the SB and take it to him to see if he has one.

Let us know if that works as there is the new and old style fitting.

Bought the right kind, there is a shorter one that says yamaha/merc/other on it which is a tad shorter then the one i bought so it fits nice and snug.
