Hello Everyone,
I am going to be picking up a new SD 187 next week and I am in the process of getting all the things I will need. I currently have an old Triumph center console so I never use fenders. In looking for fenders I see lots of sizes. I think the 6' should be sufficient but wanted to see what people here are using. I am thinking about getting some fender clips to mount them. What I am thinking is a fender clip to the front grab rail, a fender for the rear cleat, and maybe a fender clip from the windshield for a midships fender. Also thinking maybe a low freeboard contoured or flat type fender for the rear. How do you all set it up?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Fenders/Docking SD187

I've got 4 of the 6 X 23" inflatable fenders. If you are near an Academy Sports, they had them on sale a couple of weeks ago for around $14 each. I picked up a couple of extra. I rigged mine with rope so they hang at the right level for 95% of the docking that I do. I put a loop in the end so they can be quickly hung from the cleats on the sides of the boat, or adjusted as needed. I hang mine 2 per side from the cleats, and that has done the job so far. If I were rafting frequently, I might consider a 3rd one, but hasn't been necessary so far.
