feul out of the spark plug hole?

i have a 1967 20hp mercury i have been tinkering with. i was trying to start it today and the rope would not pull out. it thought it might be in a bind so i took the crank rope housing off and it was working fine so i went to turn the flywheel by hand and found it did not move easily. i then pulled the lower spark plug and gas came out. quite a bit of gas! then the fly wheel turned like it should. what caused so much gas in the cylinder? i suspect the needle and seat valve because the primer bubble never got tight. what do you guys think? also i was wondering were the super hurricanes good motors?

You're right. Needle is stuck open. Happen to me before.

There is a very good chance the fu7el pump diaphram is torn causing the problem.

If I Take Loose The Fuel Line Going From The Pump To The Carb, Sqeez The Primer Bulb And No Gas Comes Out That Line But Still Floods The Cylinder Then I Have A Bad Diaphram Right?

I Pulled The Fuel Pump Off And Much To My Suprise There Was No Diaphram! Yet It Was Picing Up Fuel! There Was Only The Gasket And The Check Valves. The Kit Comes With Two Gaskets , A Diaphram,and Two Small Round Gaskets For The Check Valves. I Am Asuming The Diaphram Is Sandwiched Between The Two Mounting Gaskets?
