I have a 1996 johnson ocean runner200hp here is the problem cant get up on plane changed props was find for a week then went out following week same problem when i start in the morning prime bulb (squeeze it) doesnt get real firm well it starts then cuts off retry 2to3 times before it stays running sounds fine no miss or hereing anything unusual changed gas filter this spring also have a small hose disconnected ,black with yellow stripe it looks like a vacuum hose or a gas suppy line nothing comming out of it cant locate where it goes well anyway boat goes about 12 knots went fishing anyway in close by the time we started in it started to gain rpms5000 and could get on plane will be able to get 24knots mind you the prop i have on it now is a hustler 14/14by 17 pitch usually i can get up to 5500to 6000rpms at 30knots that is with my oe johnson prop. I know there will be a difference, any way need some advise to this problem had it for 2 seasons never had a problem
would you recomend a clear fuel filter as apposed to a non transparent one I was told it would help seeing if gas is flowing also any foreign material floating in it ,also am going to change my primer bulb and add a fuel conditioner to fuel tank
thanks

I think you are on the right track to replace the primer bulb. I would consider the fuel lines also. A leak in the lines would explain the weak bulb, and the poor running. Another thought is perhaps your float needle(s) aren't sealing and allowing the carbs to overfill. Do you see any excess gas coming out of the carb intakes?

I believe that changing props as a fix was a conincidence.

Not sure what that small hose is, but if it is allowing a vacuum leak at your carbs, or some other leak, it can't be good. Perhaps someone can advise you on that issue.

Good luck.
