Looking at a 69 Eddie with 69 55 Johnson on it. What can I expect for a top speed and cruising speed? What kind of fuel consumption at cruising? What is the dependability of this year engine or what can I count on to replace. The boat is now being used as a " lawn tender" and was stored inside untill 7 years ago. Has been sitting since 97 but engine seems to be intact as well as the wiring. Nothing visibly replaced on the head, it all looks stock and untouched.Does this engine have the electric shift?Which I have read can be a nightmare. It was dark when i looked at it and I did not notice if the controls were single or dual, forgot. Owner said there were two seperate levers but he also said it was 19 foot.Hull looks solid but I will have to give the transom a closer inspection, seats are gone. His Grandfather was original owner. I am supposed to look at her in the light this Saturday and can probably buy the pkg for 150 to two hundred with trailer, depending on your feedback, thanks

Thanks for the feedback .I would probably use pedestal seats instead of resto for what we are going to use it for,[waterfowl hunting on the lower Niagara in the winter]any suggestions as to where to pick up some inexpensive plastic style seats? I am more intersted in the performance and engine reliability, maybe I should post in the engine forum for answers. What are you running for a power?

Walmart sells cheap bases, pedestals, swivel brackets & plastic seats. You did want cheap, didn't you.

I have a 69 55 johnson, and i wouldn't trade her for the world! Great motor.
Electric shift is not so bad. Keep the oil in the lower unit changed. I've had no issues, of any importance, and the entire lower unit is original.
Going to need to change the head wiring harness, sooner rather than later, as the insulation dry rots.
Tuning the 3 carbs is fun. There is plenty of help here on that.
Mine is on a 13.5 foot MFG Carefree, but it will have no issue motivating your boat.
Good luck with her! I'll help where I can!
