Ok so I left off with finding my heads were completely wasted. Deformed and Leaking intake valves and both heads cracked. After looking things over I found the water passages on the bottom or outer part of the cylinders as well as the heads were plugged solid with metal debris. I had to clear them with a screwdriver and flush with water and compressed air for at least 20 minutes per side to get it all out. Also using a shop vac to suck whatever I could out. It was a few pounds of crap. So basically cooking water was only flowing through the top half of each head. Not the spark plug side. What effect would this have had on the heads and other parts? Also noticed the water passage holes are restricted by the size of the openings on the head gasket. Is this normal? Like the larger water holes are about 5/8 inch and the corresponding holes on the gasket were 1/4 inch. I didn’t get my new gaskets to compare yet but I ordered the fel pro marine gaskets for the heads, intake, and exhaust. What is different about those from the standard car version? I won’t have the new heads back for about a week yet so I’m going over everything as best I can before it goes back together. Thanks.
