How do I go about finding a shear pin? The correct one. I've done some searching and without having my OE part# I cannot tell which one is correct. Its a 1967 Evinrude 40hp 40752e
I'm slightly not okay with that haha. 50% of the time I use them, their pictures and part # locations do not correspond correctly. I've received the wrong part more then once.
But thanks.
It is NOT a shearpin.----It is a drive pin.----1/4" stainless I think.-------They went away from shearpins on bigger motors.-----Reason being that is hard to change with motor on the transom.-----You can get back to the dock with a damaged prop.
Better yet, obtain a piece of 1/4" stainless steel rod and a hacksaw. Cut to 1-15/32" inches long (a hair short of 1-1/2"). Should be able to make a passel of them for what one factory made one costs.
