Anyone know the best way to patch holes and cracks in fiberglass? The boat I am restoring had some old accessories mounted to the hull of it that I removed, and there are screw holes and pas-through holes now where they were at. Things like the radio antenna and the old horn. I want to fill them in and sand them down flush, as I relocated both with more modern things.
I was thinking of using fiberglass mat on the underside of the hole, and than pouring the resin into the hole nearly flat, than using fiberglass repair material (like bondo for cars), or using gelcoat to cover the top part of the hole, but a couple of them are pretty big holes. I am repainting the upper half of the boat as it's a mustard yellow color and I am going to make it grey, but before I can I need to fill in the holes, and also need to repair a couple of spider cracks around a couple of the fixtures that are staying on the boat where the fiberglass has started to crack a bit.
