I have some screw holes in the back of my transom where the drain plug goes. I've removed the drain plug holder and its a mess behind it. I have to fill in the holes where the screws where, and reinstall the drain plug holder.

1. What do you recommend? (I waned to use epoxy to fill in the holes)

2. Should I use a filler to make the repair stringer? (milled fibers vs silica)

3. When I reattach the drain plug holder back on? (Epoxy or 5200)

any explication to why or why not would help also..

Thanks

For screw holes, and sealing the new drain fitting I would use 5200, did the trick on the old transom of my old boat...says it's permanent...

now lets just hold the phone a minit here guys...

thats a huge statement...

if its wet in the holes at all....it must be dryed or it will rot.

pics would help us help you....if its just a case of filling the holes...any will work...you choose.....but.....i dont think it is....we need to see to help you with the correct type of repair.

cheers

Oops... Did you notice the line about "repairing stringers" with fillers?

Bud, it sounds like you might need to visit the restoration forum!!! Ouch!

Sorry... I just noticed it was moved here already!

Based on this,

"I have some screw holes in the back of my transom where the drain plug goes. I've removed the drain plug holder and its a mess behind it. I have to fill in the holes where the screws where, and reinstall the drain plug holder."

I think the concern is your transom sounds like its shot.
