Okay guys and Gals,

I repaired the hole that I accidentally cut in the hull, It worked out really well. I am starting to cut the wood for the new deck and wanted to ask how many layers of fiberglass do you put on the wood? I am going to screw the wood to the stringers, then apply epoxy directly to the wood to seal it and then fiberglass over the top. So how much fiberglass do I apply?

Thanks Gary

Are you sealing the deck underneath? I've heard two philosophies on glassing both sides of a deck . How are you planning to do yours?

No I am not planning to do the underneath of the deck with fiberglass. I have bought some 5 ply Aquatek marine 1/2" ply, I am cutting it to shape, then I was going to paint it all over with epoxy resin, then install it in the boat using Stainless steel screws to secure it to the stringers and then fiberglass one layer of Roving (maybe 2 if it doesn't look right) over the entire top of the deck and double up on the fiberglass where the floor meets the hull. Then install a new carpet and go play (should be summer by the time I have finished!!).

This sure is costing far more than I expected!! I thought parts would cost me $300, so far I have spent $350 for the fiberglass and epoxy resin, $240 for the marine plywood and I still have to buy the carpet and numerous other bits and pieces.
