Fiberglassing with resin

I was doing some fiberglassing and I was using resin on the ca n it said to use wax paper to put the material on and coat with resin and then apply to are being fixed. I did it like the can said, but I am wondering can I put the mat or mesh on the area first if gravity permit and apply resin to it that way? I was having hard time gettin wax paper off any suggestons greatly welcomed

I usually Paint the area with Resin,.... Apply the Glass,.... More Resin,+ Remove the Air Bubbles,.....
Then possibly abit more Resin.....
