I have a Ficht 2000 HP 200 Model E200FPLSSH Serial No. Go4833184. Only 250 hrs and have to have new pistons due to ring alignment problems and ring groves cut too large for rings seats. bombardier did the upgrades to the injectors but would not do any correction on this major manufacturer default. Did anyone else have this problem and what solutions did you come up with. Thanks

The Wiseco series number is 3178.<br /><br />Kind of an odd problem. Was the motor under a severe load?<br /><br />Good luck!

No severe load was present. I received a code 57 on the computer which indicated lien fuel. Found the problem but the damage was alread done. No 1 went and no. 5 about to go and the others were on the verge. The ring alingment seems to be the culprit. I would stay away from FIch models 2000 to the first year they came out which I believe was 1998. Seems OMC could never get them right. Live and learn the hard way. Too expensive.

Ah - a lean condition would certianly explain the abnormal combustion temps. What are the top rpms?<br /><br />Good luck!

Ah, guys... A code 57 would indicate uncontrolled fuel being supplied to the engine. The code is set when there is an abnormally high rpm with 0% throttle opening (reading on the TPS). Code 57 can be generated by a leaky injector, a torn fuel pump diaphragm or any other fuel leak type of a condition which will allow extra fuel into the motor.<br /><br />It's more likely that the #1 injector was leaking down and "washed" the lubrication from that cylinder.<br /><br />I haven't seen, or heard for that matter, of any ring alignment or grooves cut too large problem on any of these motors. There's either a miscommunication between the service tech and the service writer (or who ever told you that story) or somebody's feeding you a line.<br /><br />-John
