Hello older OMC lovers/haters/tinkerers!
I have a pair of 150hp 2000 Johnsons which have been great motors but am looking for the software and cable to diagnose them. And maybe a pdf manual too.
I see a bunch of offers on ebay & one offers the supposed 600 page factory manual in pdf, the software for fichts and etecs, and a emm cable to a serial port for about $60 or a little more for a usb end cable.
Anyone tried this or similar or know what version software you get?

Certainly not an expert on this ,yes you can get the software but if its like the etec,s you cant make anychanges only the dealer can.Brp is very punitive about dealers going against corporate policy so you wont get the code from them for sure.

I have bought and used one off ebay and the oem version. The ebay usb cable that i ordered i actually think is better quality than the OEM one, the software is identical with one exception. It is an older version of the software and a dealer login is required for the automatic update so it wont be the latest and greatest but it will work.

The manuals that come with the ebay versions are of limited value, mostly aftermarket manuals that dont help much and a couple random OEM versions if your lucky enough you might get one close enough to what you have but i dont think mine did.

Is the software for seeing whats up but not for making any changes like the etec or is ficht old enough brp doesn't care?I know when I looked at programs for the etec all you could do was look at stuff but you couldn't even change the idle speed or oil settings.

Thanks guys, guess I'll try one of the sets with a USB cable end, I have a converter that converts the serial port end to usb but sometimes that doesn't seem to work. Some of the kits have a "bootstrap cable" which apparently connects to the emm itself to update or "restore" it and I don't know how useful that would be? And 82Rude, it looks like any of the recent software versions let's you make changes in the ficht and improved ficht (Ram) motors. My guess is the latest software versions cover the ongoing changes in the etecs and likely add nothing for the older motors.
