Ficht ??? What is it?

I want to buy a new boat and have studied motors and I cannot find out what "ficht" is? Please Help !!!

FICHT Engineering in Germany is the company responsible for the design of the FICHT/RAM direct fuel injection in two stroke motors manufactured by Bombardier.<br /><br />Its competitor ORBITAL design is responsible for the design of the OPTIMAX series of motors having direct fuel injection two stroke motors manufactured by Mercury.<br /><br />Most boat manufacturers bundle together a motor/boat combo so the search is simple.<br /><br />In some cases I would say that Direct Injection in Two Stroke motors is the way to go but the market seems to be innundated by four stroke motors which tend to be far more silent, fuel efficient but heavy. <br /><br />Two stroke motors with fuel injection and or carburetted tend to be the least expensive combination but are more expensive to operate and as of 2006 they will be discontinued for environmental concerns.

FICHT is the name of the family in Germany that owns the company that invented the system. And just for your personal knowledge, it is a great system if you get one of the later models(2000 and newer), and contrary to popular belief they have been known to produce less overall emmissions than 4 strokes, and the new E-TEC's are more fuel efficient and evironmentally safe than 4 strokes on the market. DI 2 strokes are less expensive to operate than any 4 stroke, and as for being discontinued, maybe the carbed motors, but I seriously doubt that Bombardier would put all of their effort and resources into creating the E-TEC if it was gonna be outlawed in 1 1/2 years.

Moving to General Outboard
