Fighting steering/outboard on bass boat

I just recently purchased a 17' Nitro bass boat with a 115 hp and a Laser II 26 pitch prop. When I am accelerating through the midrange speed when my boat is on plane I am having to REALLY fight the steering wheel to keep the boat going straight. But when I start to trim out the outboard it gets better and travels straight for a while until my speed increases then I have to fight the steering in the opposite direction. Any thought? I can tolerate a little bit but I'm really fighting it and feel like its probably putting a strain on my steering cables.

Do you by chance know what rpm you are hitting at WOT? That sounds like too much pitch. You might also have to drop your motor mounting 1 hole to regain control through the whole spectrum

Foul, That happens to me on my speedboat. I will guess the zinc anode (or whatever you have) could be adjusted to compensate for steering torque, but likely on in one speed band (slow, cruise, max speed).

I also agree that you are likely overpropped. I would recommend you check RPM at max throttle and trim to make sure it is in the accepted range.
