guess i will have to find out for myself auto.
just a polite way of saying "i don't give a rat a** what you say"!

Wow, sorry dude, didn't mean to burst your little bubble about your boat!

If you feel you have to discover everything for yourself and aren't capable of learning from what's out there, go for it! Nothing wrong with Starcraft, but they're not really very efficient except in a very narrow range. Doesn't matter whether you care what I say or not, anybody that's interested can look up the data their self on the internet. If you can't handle some discussion on an open forum and provide some facts to back yourself up, it's going to be rough on you here ....

The following data all came from the Mercury Outboard Tests at:

http://www.mercurymarine.com/look_d...y=Title&Section=outboardChecks&optimaxProXS=8

All the boats had an identical 250 HP Optimax Pro XS, they were about the same length and weight. You're right about the Starcraft efficiency up to about 25 MPH, but after that it's the bottom of the bunch and 10 MPH slower than everything else. I base efficiency on a boat's best cruise, and EVERYTHING beats it in that case!

auto that comment i made about starcraft and diesel was kind of a boasting joke.
i thought the starcraft croud might get a kick out of that.
i have both and am proud of both.
that 25 mph figure you mentioned is actually the sweet spot i had in mind.
i have always been mechanically minded and in fact has been my strong point.
i could just look at stuff and see all the moving parts then go to it.
looking at the islander 21 that 23 to 25 mph figure seemed right were i needed to be.
want to make some long runs and efficiency is most important.
i worked in a steel mill for almost 40 years and did things thought impossible many times.
some of my ideas went world wide, china and arabia.
working in a mill is rough and you had to stand your ground or get ate alive.
kind of a carry over i guess but hey, can we all just get along.
will listen to anybody but when people come out with that authoritarian attitude sorry man.
now this is a great boating wealth of information and thanks to all, you have helped.
so were do we go from here friend?

OK, the results are in:
1 gallon of beer, and I only moved 500 feet all day. That's less than one-tenth of a mile per gallon !
