Filled cobra sx drive from bottom hole. Now what?

I've got a 95' cobra sx drive. I drained it all, removed all plugs (3), and filled it from the bottom until it came out of the center hole. I did this one like I did with an old mercury. I read that this is not the proper procedure for the sx and needs to be filled from the center hole. What can I do to correct it or what should I check from this if it is an issue?

When you say center hole do you mean the one next to the shift mechanism under the plastic cover? If so you are probably good. Where is the oil on the dipstick?

If you happened to get an old clutch dog cobra on your 95 boat then you would need to fill from the center.

Do not run the boat until you are sure it is correct.

If its the SX with a cone clutch you fill from the bottom.

The center hole is behind the cover right?

Yes, there is a cover over the back that says "Cobra" on it. I had to take off 3 bolts to get it off. It contained the shift cable end, linkage, shift mechanism, and a sealed cover plate. The book says the drive is a "cobra SX". I ran it about 10 minutes in the water without any issues a few weeks ago. I didn't realize some filled from the middle. I'm going to double check the fluid level tonight.

You fill it until the oil level is within the flat spot on the dipstick. Allow it to set for a while and any bubble work their way out.

DO NOT overfill. It will push oil out through the front seal into the bellows which can damage the seal.
