Filling lower unit with hypoid oil
1956 3 HP Evinrude.
Unit does not have two plugs like most motors. There is the familiar plug at the bottom but not one above. There is however on the unit above a much smaller plug on what for a better name I will call the shin of the casing.
First attempt at filling I was able to put so much oil in and then it would take no more. Even with the small plug above removed I could not force any more oil in.Putting air in this top plug will blow oil out of bottom unit.
Manual calls for using squirt can inserted in vent plug. Question, is this small plug above the vent plug cited in manual? Also what is oil/gas ratio for the model year?
