Hey guys! Been a while but you know how that goes.... So here is my question.. I have a lot of screw holes and snaps along the top edge of the cap that were for original covers. I have a 1 piece full cover now and wanted to remove snaps, fill the holes and touch up the gelcoat.....what's your thoughts?

Filling in the holes will be the easy part, just dish them out a bit, fill and fair with any poly based fairing compound, or thickened poly resin, and sand smooth...matching the gel color will be the tricky part, but with some playing around, im sure you could get close. Ill be filling all mine in, since they are crooked lol, but im painting so its no biggie...

Yup ^^^^ A Dremel will be the best tool for this, and I'd dish em out on the bottom too. so you can kind of get a Rivet effect with some push thru on the filler especially on areas where flexing could occur.

I actually had someone recommend thickening some gelcoat with Cabosil and using that as the filler for small holes.. Just food for thought.

Just be aware that Gelcoat paste isn't very structural, so if there is Flex in the repair areas some of the paste could "Pop" free.;)
