Different strokes for different folks Puge. Your solution is a great one and I would go that route myself but as I said after inspecting my trim, most rivets are MIA or loose. I wish I could use your idea.:D

I painted over my welded holes before taking pictures. Sorry, I didn't know about this forum at the time. Can't tell where those holes were now. They were small so there wasn't enough heat to warp anything. As a fellow former welder you know that you have to control your heat.

I did however fill a couple missed holes with thickened epoxy. After 2 years I noticed a black outline around the patch but its still holding after 3 seasons.

I may try the JB Weld approach next time around.

Was that below the waterline? I have a bunch of those screw hoes from old fishfinder / spedo / ... stuff that I need to fill.

Yes. Mine were also from old transducers, etc.
