Ok I have a 1983 Johnson 75hp I've taken my lumps from this motor in the past but I finally found a local guy that knows his stuff and we straightened everything out, finally.

The last thing I need to handle is my fuel system, on his tank everything ran fine, idled great, perfect motor. On my tank however, I lose pressure in the bulb and I idle rough, dies, I need to bump the choke to bring it to life all the stuff that would indicate I have an air leak somewhere between my fuel pickup and my connection to the motor.

I have decided after a good 20 seconds of debate to just buy an entire new system, tank, water separator, filter, connection to the motor, tank and lines.

It's not that big of a jump, not that much cash and something I feel confident I can handle without a hitch, My questions are, is there a specific fuel line diameter I need for my 75hp? Bulb size? I'm going with a 12 gallon tank, the one I have now is garbage, with a metal L screwing into a plastic receiver, it has stripped, and draws air no doubt, all the Teflon in the world wont save it. Is there a specific tank that is better than others as far as design?

So to summarize, a quality tank would be? should I get a specific fuel line diameter for my 75hp? and bulb size for the 75hp. Thanks so much!! This forum has helped me tons and I hope that this last bit of advice will keep me on the water for the remainder of the season.

You are probably going to end up with a poly tank, there are several on the market. I would think that a 3/8" fuel line and the bulb to match would work well for your engine.

5/16 " ID fuel line will also work good on that mtr and may be cheaper.
