With an actual unit, I can finally finish designing/building the overhead console I planned on mounting it, my Sirius receiver, and my stereo head unit into.

Now its time to start studying up on proper VHF communications...

The USCGA and the USPS have courses regularly on radio communications. Check with your local CGA and PS for times.
