After search after search, and looking at sketchy CL boats and Sketchy CL sellers, and trying to get a boat from Boat angel. I went back to look at my grandfathers old boat and see if I could buy it. Well, I can. turns out he was thinking of selling it. and as it turns out, he told me, that he bought it brand new in '61 or '62.. Not sure on the exact year or model ( has to be a '61 or '62, but it is a 16' Correct Craft fiberglass runabout, and it has a 65hp Mercury on it. It needs some work, but the seats, and interior are still good. My grandfather made a mess of the transom years ago by supporting it with a piece of marine plywood, carriage bolts and fiberglass, but the boat is all there and complete. With the Family history and being bought brand new, it's worth the restoration. It's always been under a lean to, and covered by a tarp for as long as I can remember. Tags expired in 2001 but I only remember it being on the water once or twice in my life ( i'm 24 )... My grandfather also has a vintage 1960's wake board to go with it, and a couple pairs of skis older than the boat.. No pics yet. Still gotta go down and clean out around it so I can pull it out.

I'm witholding any and all congrats due to your obvious violation of iboats rule #1, book #1, section #1: pics or it didn't happen. At which time you find it plausible to cease and desist this horrenous nonobservance, a board of your peers will convene at my house and/or work to review this infraction and/or the suspension of same, and mertious praise will be heaped upon you. Until then, you sir are on notice. Good day.

(oh...what the heck....congrats!)

I have to help my grandfather dig out the wake board. he said he knows where it is, but it's behind some other stuff in his barn. It probably isn't any good, but it will be a neat piece of history anyway. The skis are sitting in the boat tho... I do have to make a correction, as it's not a Correct Craft. It is a Custom Craft Sea Ray model. I only looked briefly under the cover and could only read "craft" on the logo and enough of the first letter to know that it was a "C". Looks just like this. I don't see the Sea Ray in the '62 brochures so it must be a '61. 432px-Customcraftb61013.jpg

Lol. I will get pics. Would have had them if I had remembered my cell phone, but it doesn't take good pics anyway.

Re: Finally got a boat

Well, I managed to get down there, dig out the boat, attempt to air the tires up. 1 holds air, other does not. Dropped my truck in 4 low and pulled it out of the lean to. Borrowed my grandparents car Went to TSC, bought new tires and wheels. Got back after dark so I would not have been able to see to change the tires. hopped in the truck to go home, got a mile down the road and I heard the throwout bearing start to squeal pretty bad, with the noticeable smell of burning clutch. So it's clutch time and I have no way to move the boat, at least until early next week if I can get a clutch done then. No pics yet cause I had forgotten my camera, but I still might pull the boat farther up into a safer spot than it is..Only thing I can add is that the Merc 650 is a little later model. original motor's LU ( 35hp Merc ) got damaged and a new motor was cheaper than the repair. It shifts, and I pulled over slow a couple times. Compression on all 4 holes feels good and equal. It wasn't easy to pull over, which I'm sure is part due to sitting, and the other part. I wasn't pulling at a good angle+ being a 65hp 4cyl... It's manual start backup for a reason. I'll get a battery in it and see if it'll spin over so I can check comp.. Have to get my trucks clutch fixed first

The innards of the motor are going to be awfully dry. Spray some fogging oil into the cylinders before you try cranking it, and spray it into the carbs while cranking. Remember, there's no crankcase for lubricating oil in a 2-stroke.

Yep. That's why I only pulled it over slow twice. I planned on some straight 2 stroke oil down the holes before cranking/ comp test. I may get some fogging oil instead
