I have a 1992 v-8 250 Evinrude and am looking for the electric primer pump assembly. As far as I can tell, its obsolete. What can I use in leau of it? Also, does in mount to the powerhead or in the boat? I have an idea using a holley blue pump with a bypass and check valve which may work but would like some other suggestions.
Thanks

I have a link at home, and if you don't have a source before tonight I will post it. I just don't have the time to search for it at the moment. It's just the pump (Wabco) The bypass is not included. Cost was 90.00 as remember.

Here’s the link. This is the exact pump on my V8 setup. the bypass with the check valve is not included. If you need the parts to make one you will need

1. 3/8 aviation pneumatic fitting with a check valve
1. 3/8 aviation pneumatic fitting without a check valve
2. 3/8 hose barb fittings
2. 3/8 npt 3 way female fittings
2 3/8 npt nipples
1 Roll of Teflon tape

The two A.N. fittings are connected together with a 3/8 copper tube in a loop. The check valve is connected on the three way npt fitting on the in side of the pump.

This is an orriginal setup and is mounted prior to my filter in the bildge.

You could improvise with another type of pump, you just have to be sure to have a check valve in the setup that will allow enough fuel to flow and not restrict the 3/8 fuel flow down. The A.N fitting with the check valve seems to do the job well. an antisiphon valve cuts the flow into a bottle neck of about 1//4"

Hope this helps you out.
