I have a 2003 Regal Commodore 28.60 model
Twin 2003 Volvo Penta 4.3 GXI engines ( red vortec )
Duo props on each lower unit
On top of each engine it has a plate that indicates timing, idle rpm , ignition timing , covers multiple GXI engines ,
4.3 GXI 5.0 GXI 5.7 GI 5.7 GXI
April purchase a learning process.
How can I find my exact GXI engines,
Don't see it on engines, if so were ?? hull number help ?
Cant order any parts saying 2003 Volvo Penta - RED 4.3 GXI . they say which GXI there are many ???
What shop manual would you recommend ?
ALSO
Possibly beaten this topic too death but is there a way too clean almost new iridium spark plugs
Let me explain
After purchase I had a local shop do some work.
Besides the work I brought it in for , they said I needed new plugs .
Engines had iridium plugs and they replaced with new AC iridium .
I try to do most of my own repairs when possible , but find with twin engines no room too get around
Recently developed a power steering leak.
Actuator had too be changed.
On this Regal actuator is behind starboard engine very difficult too get too .
I live inland, keep boat at ocean 11/2 hrs away
Brought boat into a shop I never used close too the marina were boat is kept
While there shop said I needed basic service , had slight water pump leak starboard ( which I knew )
He pulled one of the plugs and said it was dirty with carbon ?? Saying they were changed few months ago with little hours .
Need too address why they have carbon built ( if this guy telling the truth ) ?
Actuator is completed. Thanksgiving & Christmas this shop was closed often.
Nothing was done on engines. Christmas just passed, decided too pull boat and do all other work myself
The cost of 20 dollars a plug iridium verses 5 dollars for a good old fashioned AC or NGB you can clean with sand paper .
Cant use sandpaper or wire brush , how about torch burning off carbon. cant imagine a lot of carbon , what solution if any ?
If I get new standard plugs what numbers remember I have a Red 4.3 GXI engine
thanks for what ever help you can offer .
