Years ago, on Lake Shasta, my dad had a 16' inboard Rockholt. This was a really nice boat that scooted along. It had a Mercury flathead V8. The bilge plug was just 3/4" galvanized. We took on some water with kids jumping in and out and my dad said "As we head back to Bridge Bay for soda, unscrew the plug and the water will drain out. Naturally I dropped the plug into the lake and and to sit at Bridge Bay, in the water, with my finger in the plug hole, while my dad drove into town and bought a plug.

Lots of laughs at my expense.

I hope your finger did not swell up and that you did not have to tread water!

You would be a handy person to have around in Holland if one of the dyke's starts to leak.

we forgot the plug in an old bass boat- 50miles from anywhere- so we wrapped a plastic Walmart bag around a stick and shoved it in the hole- no leakage:D

I have the same 3/4" bung plug in the old LoneStar and have a little alumimun tray that I always keep it in along with extra battery wing nuts and a golf ball to throw at motards & jetskis that come too close while I'm fishing. I have only lost 1 plug in 20 years.( knock on my wooden head):D
