Fins

13ft open plan type dory with cathedral hull. Very heavy bat for the size, unsinkable.

Got an old 2 stroke 30hp yammy from early 90's. It has those fins on the cavitation plate which are supposed to help.

The boat just about gets on the plane with 2 people in. Should I take them off? I want more speed!

Old!!!! From the early 90's is almost a new engine. OK -- I'm old so anything less than 30 years old is almost new to me! It certainly won't hurt to try but the previous owner obviously added it for a reason -- very likely to help get it on plane.
