hey what is the firing order on mercury inline 6 115 hp, 1985 does the top plug go to top cylinder 2nd plug go to 2nd cylinder and so on? thanks
Gerry, I've got one of these in the shop right now and the switch boxes are wired for 1-5-3-6-2-4
1 and 6 share trigger coil (1), 5 and 2 share trigger coil (2) and 3 and 4 share trigger coil (3). Switch box #1 inner is set up so the top lug wire goes to #1 coil, middle goes to #5 coil, bottom goes to #3 coil. The outer switch box is wired with top lug wire to #6 coil, middle to #2 coil and bottom to # 4 coil. The top three coil plug wires go to cylinders 1, 2, 3 and the bottom go to cylinder 4, 5, 6.
I'm pretty sure that's correct for 1985 I6 90 and 115. The Merc manual seems to agree.
3 & 6 share the same coil as do 2 & 5 and 1 & 41 and 6 share trigger coil (1), 5 and 2 share trigger coil (2) and 3 and 4 share trigger coil (3).
