firing question mercury

My dad has an early 70's mercury 115 hp and its been awhile since its been messed with because he has got a different boat. I believe it was not getting any fire to the plugs and I was thinking it could be the power pack. Is there anyway to check the powerpack without replacing it first or is there anything i should check before messing with the power pack?

I talked to my dad last night and he said he gets fire to the powerpack and only just a little fire out of it. Any reason why that is?

Start by posting your serial # these motors are not " all the same "-------------Note the power pack does not get " fire or spark " going to it.-------Your terminology needs to be standard so that folks can assist you.
