After wanting to get my hands on a boat for many years, I have finally been able to do it!
This boat has been in my family, owned by an uncle who is a small engine/marine mechanic, since the late 80's. It has done very little work since he completely rebuilt the motor and hull, with less than 200hrs on the dial. It hadn't been used for many years (10 or so) and after several years of asking, he finally relented to letting me buy it. He spent a good amount of time setting it up, ensuring it was running smoothly, safe and ready to go boating.
The motor on it is a '77 75HP Chrysler which runs magnificently aside from a few slight issues - occasional hard starting when warm, and tilt/trim leakdown. The cowling is off a 90HP Chrysler. My uncle was building up the 90 but had consistent issues with the head and opted to keep the motor for spare parts instead.
I have fished many times from this boat in my childhood and I'm very happy I can now call it mine. It's a terrific little package, surprisingly roomy for a 14' and boy does it go!
I receive comments on how great it looks and how tidy a boat it is everywhere I go. Very happy - now to just nail some decent fish!!
