Just bought my first boat, A 19' Bayliner Capri I/O, 305 Chevy motor with an OMC Cobra outdrive on a galvanized Escort trailer for 150 bucks!!!

Gonna post some pics tomorrow....motor and possibly outdrive need work but was too good of a deal to pass up

Hey! Sweet deal! Hubby & I just got a 1988 Bayliner Cobra & joined the forum yesterday. I know I am looking forward to your pics and hearing about your progress with this project.

outside of boat, upholstery and carpet looks great.Will post pics soon I promise. Couple of soft spots in the floor...ones between the windows in the bow and the other is just above the gas tank.

This is a grandfather, father, son project...my dads pulling the OMC Cobra outdrive out tomorrow.It appears the lower unit has a 2 inch long crack right behind the prop so Im fairly certain ts going to need a rebuild.If anyone knows of a good place or happens to have a spare OMC Oudrive that fits a V-8 laying around let me know.

I also just bought my first boat, a 1988 Bayliner 2150 Capri with the 5 L OMC engine and Cobra outdrive. Starts and runs great but I put it in the shop before I took it out last weekend because of a leaking power steering cooler. After ordering and getting the wrong part that came in on Friday evening, they ended up using epoxy to glue the end back onto the cooler. At least we got to have some fun with it for the weekend. Seems to be holding ok, as it is not under high pressure. I also have a soft spot in the floor next to the seat behind the driver's seat.

We haven't done anything to our boat other than a cleaning & hull repair (cracked it against the dock when a BIg boat slammed us into the dock with their wake). That went well. We'll be doing a tear down & restore over the winter. That's when I'll have some great pics. in the meantime we are just enjoying & learning

OH! Thanks to this forum I learned about the Magic Erasers...hell, yeah! They do an AMAZING job on the vinyl interior...here's how much I love them: I went on
