Hello everyone, new member here. My name is Paul, I live in Port Angeles, WA. I have always wanted to live on the water so I bought a 1969 Whitcraft. I am on the waiting list for the marina (liveaboard) so I have several years to complete my project. I am a BRAND NEW BOATER so be gentle here...lol.

The engine was stolen from this boat so I am starting from scratch. Instead of going back to the original 350 V8 I went with twin matched 115 HP outboards. They are making the adapter as we speak and they should be installed by Dec.

My question is this, right now it's in drydock. When I go to have the engines put on should I paint the bottom if it needs it or not? There is some minor blistering on the hull but the man at the marina said it was in surprisingly good condition for it's age and someone at one time put some money into restoring the hull. But I figure it's kind of like having a V8 that you replace the lifters in, you might as well replace all the other parts since you're in the engine anyway. Are boats basically the same? Should I go ahead and sand and paint the bottom?
