Hello all,

I am a proud recipient of a FREE 19' Bayliner Classic with Mercruiser 3.0L I/O on a trailor.
Has not run in 4-5 years but was told it ran great and was winterized the last year ran.

Having never done engine repair before, so I started in this order.
1 - looked at the engine and determined, Yep, it is an engine.
2 - went on line and bought the SELOC Mercruiser Manual. Hope I got the right one. Boat is a 1992, engine is original. Got the engine manual for the 1991 and older.
3 - Found S/N's (S/N Engine OD714746, S/N Transom OD671270, S/N Drive OD665768)
4 - Found this website.

The steps seemed logical to me.

Now, where do I start. I have been told by several people and even from my first post in the general section to be mindful of the fuel, fuel lines and carburetor. I will start there. What else should I clean, repair, replace, kick, stand on, before ever trying to put on the muffs, turning on the hose and seeing what happens.

Please data dump what ever you have for me I will take it all in.
And don't worry about being blunt. If I am doing something dumb, tell me.

Looking forward to all your posts.

Yes, good info in your other thread. The bellows is a big deal (hose that Mark mentioned), worst case is a sinking boat, best case is a rusty gimbal bearing which means you need to pull the drive off and inspect it. All part of replacing the bellows and this has to be done. Most here will say use the Seloc manual as a knee pad ;)

Take a look at the Adults Only and the must have for DIY stickies above ^^^^^^ Good place to start.

Good luck and welcome aboard!!

Hi QC,

Sooo, does the Seloc as a knee pad mean, "good to always have with you and if your knees are on it you will know where it is" or "better to use it to soak up water and keep the knees dry because it basically stinks" :)
This is already a helpful site. :)
